08/07/2008 - "Scoping Planning Sites"
When you are in the midst of planning your ceremony, and aren't exactly sure who you want to go with, most find a planning site helpful.
You enter in a little info, click a button and wah-la, you have businesses contacting you. Probably quite a few, oh wait - more than you planned? That is what happens more often than not. When you enter your info into those little magic boxes and press complete, enter or whatever the final step is - that info is shot out to every possible vendor in a 25-50 miles radius that might POSSIBLY be useful to you. 'But I wasn't looking for an ice sculpture, releasing doves or historic B&B - why did they contact me?', you might ask. It is easiest explained by the fact that for every 'lead' (that is what you are) sent to a business - the business pays the website anywhere from $1 to $5. The more leads they send out - the more money they make. Granted - you might be able to sort through the massive mess of new emails clogging your inbox and find a few companies you are interested in; but why the hassle? Take a few moments and look through the listings on the planning site. Send the vendors a direct email. You will get what you are looking for faster - without the mailbox so full it is spitting back at you....
08/07/2008 - "Ceremony Start Times"
Ceremony start times...
Within the past week - I have had two ceremonies start over 30 minutes late. Was it an issue? Not in these cases, but it COULD have been. I wasn't scheduled for another ceremony, and the weather conditions weren't staggering for the guests....
But what if they had been? I don't have any problems running on your time schedule if I don't have other couples waiting on me. I LOVE weddings, the emotional charge, the decorations, even the chaos - but what if the guests were suffering due to hot or cold weather by starting late? Are there infants in the audience who are on a feeding schedule that this delay interrupts? Are your guests able to easily obtain a beverage counter active to the weather conditions? Is there a restroom nearby that they can use? Most guests understand a delay, but don't abuse that understanding for selfish reasons.
I was lucky - my clients were taken care of - will you be?
