Important Information You Should Know When Choosing A Wedding Photographer
by David Shelton
Choosing the right photographer for your wedding may be one of the most difficult and important decisions you make when planning your wedding. Style, cost, talent, personality and professionalism are all considerations. Here are a few suggestions to help you make the right choice.
Style: Does the photographer have a number of different styles that he or she can offer? Traditional and photo-journalistic are two of the most popular styles. Black and white, sepia, color, collages and panoramas are just a few of the choices you should be offered for your album.
Cost: Rated the second biggest factor for all brides choosing a photographer, and rightly so. Does the photographer offer a set number of images in a set size, such as 48 8x10s in an album for a set price? Remember, you are going to want all the images from your wedding if the photographer is even moderately talented. Find out exactly what it will cost for you to own all your images.
Talent: Is this a new or weekend profession for this photographer? Because of the ease of using a digital camera, many new photographers are popping up and offering you their services. Make sure your wedding isn't their training ground. Find out how many years they have actually been in business and ask to see a number of different weddings they have shot. If they are a professional photographer, they won't mind you asking for referrals -- in fact they should be excited to give you a past client's email address for you to ask questions if they have good experiences to share.
Personality: Yes, this is extremely important. Why? Because this person is, in addition to performing a valuable service, a guest at one of your life's most important days... your wedding. You want someone who is personable and friendly -- a "people" person. No matter how talented they may be, you don't want someone who's bossy, faux arty, or boorish.
Professional: Lastly, you want someone who puts off a professional vibe. They should blend in by dressing as you would expect your guests to dress for this important occasion, respect the rules of the church and the minister, and deliver what you agree on in a timely manner.
Keeping these ideas in mind will help you select the right photographer to capture your very special day. Congratulations on your upcoming wedding!
